Distinction Hotels Covid-19 Vaccination Policy Effective from 3 Dec 2021

We wish to share the outcome of our recent review regarding the role vaccination will have in keeping people safe across Distinction Hotels New Zealand.

To be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 means having received two doses of the NZ Governments approved COVID-19 vaccines or the full recommended dose of other vaccines approved by the World Health Organisation (which may apply if any person/s have been vaccinated overseas) as approved by NZ Government. Our policy also covers vaccine boosters approved by the Ministry of Health (MOH) as part of the requirement to be fully vaccinated.

On arrival at hotel
Commencing on 3 December 2021, all guests, visitors and contractors at entry point must provide verification of vaccination status via the NZ verifier app or a hard copy of your QR code at time of check in or entry to the hotel. Children under the age of 12 years who cannot be vaccinated will be exempted.

It will be mandatory to scan it upon arrival at the hotel, this will remain a condition of entry until such time that the NZ government changes this mandate.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and understand some guests may need to cancel their bookings.  For reservations booked directly with a hotel, guests are to contact the respective hotel or if booked via a travel agent contact must be made at  booking source to assist with the process.

Locations for which this applies
This policy applies to all Distinction Hotels owned locations within New Zealand, including brand Discovery Hotels. For a full list of hotels please refer to our website: www.distinctionhotels.co.nz.

Effective date
All guests, visitors and contractors must be fully vaccinated by 3 December 2021 to be able to stay or visit the hotels, including hotels conference rooms, restaurants, bars and facilities such as gyms, swimming pool and spa pools.

This mandate applies to all Distinction Hotels employees and therefore all staff are required to be single vaccinated by 3 December 2021 and fully vaccinated by 17th January 2022. Our team are supportive of this mandate, as it ensures that all our employees, guests and visitors are kept as safe as possible.

Responsibility for compliance

It is the sole responsibility of all persons entering a Distinction Hotel to ensure that they hold and maintain the relevant vaccination status, including current vaccine boosters if required.

Exemptions
Note that a very limited amount of people can’t take the vaccine and may have an exemption certificate – this would be incredibility rare and any such legal exemptions will be issued by the New Zealand Ministry of Health. Proof of a valid exemption certificate is required upon entry to a Distinction Hotel.

Distinction Hotels looks forward to welcoming guests, visitors and contractors to our hotels and we wish you a prosperous year ahead.
